Of all the ways the Lord God Almighty could have chosen to relate to humanity, He chose the language of family. He could have described Himself as a benevolent dictator, kind boss, or patient landlord. But instead, He chose the word father.
He presents Himself as a Father because we all know what a father is and does. Even if we did not have earthly fathers who treated us well, we have a natural understanding of what a good father should be. God planted that understanding in our hearts.
We all have a need to be loved, cherished, protected, and valued. Ideally, an earthly father will meet those needs. But even if he doesn’t, God will. Jesus taught His followers to address God as Father (Luke 11:2). Throughout Scripture, God describes His love for us as that of a caring parent (Isaiah 49:15; John 16:26–27; 2 Corinthians 6:18).
Although He possesses characteristics of both father and mother (Isaiah 66:13), He chooses the masculine word because it also denotes strength, protection, and provision (Psalm 54:4).
God has a special place in His heart for the orphans and fatherless (Deuteronomy 24:20; Jeremiah 49:11; James 1:27). Psalm 27:10 says, “Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me. ? God knows that many times earthly fathers have been absent or have not done their job.
According to americafirstpolicy.com
Across America, 2022 data indicates there are approximately 18.3 million children who live without a father in the home, comprising about 1 in 4 US children.
About 80% of single-parent homes are led by single mothers.
In one study, 70% of youth in state operated facilities were from single-parent homes.
Psalm 68:5 A. God is a Father of the fatherless
Who is this God that desires to be my Daddy?
It is a common fact in most relationships that the better you know someone the more near your heart they will be to you, the more easily it will be to share your heart, your dreams and your life with them. That's our God!!!
James 4:8a: NLT Come close to God, and God will come close to you
Psalm 145:3 NLT Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure his greatness.
Romans 11:33 NLT Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!
These scriptures tell me that the only limits on my Daddy are the ones I put on Him.
Take the limits off Him and let yourself be loved by Him, encouraged by Him, cared for by Him, protected by Him, sustained by Him and on and on and on.
You are made in the image of God, and He desires you to be like Jesus.
Romans 8:29: NLT For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son when we worship an inferior version— an idol, whatever it is—we become like whatever we worship.
An idol is the thing or person that comes first in our lives, and we will either be deformed by our idols or transformed by the true God (Our Daddy) who made us.
If your god is money, you’ll become materialistic. If your god is sex, you’ll become increasingly sensual. If your god is yourself, you’ll be more and more self-focused.
But if your God is the Almighty Creator of Scripture, you've got a LIFETIME of joy ahead of you, not to mention, all of eternity to study Him, know Him, love Him, and reflect Him in your attitudes, actions, and personality.
We are still getting to know Him….
According to the Bible, our God is the Everlasting Father, the God of hosts, the Lord of heaven and earth, the Author and Finisher of our faith.
He is the Comforter, the Counselor, the Creator. He is the Great Physician and the God of all grace. His name is I AM, the Alpha and Omega, and the Holy One of Israel. We can call Him Jehovah, the Most High, and the Lord of the living and the dead.
He is Maker, Mediator, He is our Prophet, Priest, and King; our Redeemer, Refuge, and Rock. He is Ruler of heaven and earth. He is the Friend of sinners.
Wow. This is our Daddy. If you don't know Him He can be your Daddy. He extended the ultimate love letter when He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins for this world.
Don't miss out. No one will love your more, care for you more, anchor you more, guide you more, walk with you more and on and on and on!
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Paul has written that Christ's death for sin has changed the way he regards people. Instead of looking at each person as a mere human being, he must view those who are in Christ as something entirely different.
Those who are "in Christ" are those who have faith in Him, credited with Christ's righteous life, and their sin forgiven by Christ's death in their place. Such people are new creatures. Those "in Christ" have become something they were not before.
Their identity has changed from being the fallen version of themselves, to being associated with the righteousness of Christ. That's who they are now.
In fact, the old version of a Christian, who they were before they were "in Christ," is not recoverable. The old is gone, Paul writes. The new has come.
All the old dreams and ideas and agendas and purposes have ceased to exist and have been replaced by Christ's ideas and agendas and purposes in an entirely new creature called "Christian." Are you accessing all this newness??
Paul's words are true in another way. The old way of humanity is also gone. The old way of the law is also gone. Christ is the long-promised new Covenant that makes it possible for men and women to be made new once and for all, and for eternity, with no possibility of returning to the old.
Remember. Your Daddy desires to draw close to you, His child. He desires to reveal Himself in Scripture, as you get to know your Father it will lift your thoughts, steadies your nerves, purifies your motives, expands your confidence, and strengthens your influence. Make the choice to be free today from the inside out.
Psalm 37:3 says, “Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. ? What does it mean to feed on His faithfulness? It means to feed on His goodness, on His mercy, on His power, on His presence, on His promises, on His love, and on all His endless and infinite attributes and qualities.
